Setting the record "straight"...

Okay... so before I get flamed by people for being a "yaoi hater" etc... Let's see if I can't explain things a bit here. First off, the difference between yaoi and shonen ai... Shonen ai is mild boy x boy love stuff. Kissing, hugging, standing next to each other and looking angsty... Yaoi is more... adult. Usual sexual content, and no, I don't like it. But wait! If you don't like yaoi, that must mean you hate homosexuals! You would be wrong there my friend. For there is also Hentai, which is adult material between a boy x girl. Do I like to see that? No! I don't like that either! Pff... then what ARE you? Some kind of prude? ....yeah. something like that. As for shonen ai, I'm not a fan, BUT if it is normal for the characters to act like that,(examples: Shuiichi x Yuki from Gravitation, or Yukito and Sakura's Brother from Card Captor Sakura, etc...) then I don't care, that's how the characters are in the anime or manga, then if there's fanart, they'll probably act the same way in that as well. It's when you get the strange "Fangirl Pairings" that I start to get annoyed. For example... Goku and Vegeta of DragonBall Z??? Excuse me while I go puke in the corner... WHY would anyone in their right mind actually think they're a couple? WHY?! I don't get it. Or... the guys from Yu-Gi-Oh! Joey and Seto always yell at each other and say they hate eachother... so... by fangirl reasoning that must mean they actually LOVE eachother?? what the CRAP? how does that work? oi... Though some of the fanarts with shonen-ai type stuff can be really funny if they aren't meant to be serious. Check out this yugioh one! I laughed so hard! Why? Because it isn't meant to be serious! I suppose I also just don't see the appeal to fangirls of seeing two guys together. If I saw a couple of guys, I wouldn't want to sit and watch them make-out, I'd be more like, "Hey! over here! There's better for you! You can come sit by ME..." *wink* ^.~ heh... yeah, so there's my opinion on yaoi, shonen-ai, and all that crap. Love me for it, hate me for it, or... just shrug and keep reading the comics... ~Mika |
