Seeking Truth and Wisdom Part I Chapter 2
Fast Lightning Strikes

The Sun shines down on the field somewhere in Herokia, a small country that makes ends meat off of farming. It is a beautiful place to vacation. Everyone in the country knows one another. There are always people waving and greeting each other with smiling faces. There are tiny concrete roads, where, on one side, are rows of smaller individual houses for those who are blacksmiths, tailors, and others with those types of jobs. On the other side of the road are the large fields of crops. Ranging from corn, squash, apples, cabbage, pumpkins, cucumbers, peas, lettuce, plums, lemons, and many, other types of fruits and vegetables. Yes it seems like there can never be a rainy day in this town, and even if there are then there are still children forcing in the many puddles on the streets.
Oh, but on the contrary, during the rainy season, smiles fade on peoples faces. There are no cars are trucks on the roads. No one is out on the fields working. Doors and windows are shut tight. The week before the rainy season people scramble about buying much more food then you think is needed.
The rainy season is the worst of them all. Sure it may help the plants but, it also is quite dangerous to the townsfolk. During this season the wind is much stronger and can pull cars off the ground. The rain beat down so hard that they could drown people or cause so many accidents. There are also many thunderstorms. The thunder is so loud and intimidating it can frighten people stiff, so that the next natural disaster can finish them. The worst of all is the lightning. It can strike so fast and swiftly that anything can be struck in the blink of an eye.
Now we find Kaminare-ona, daughter of lightning, dashing about her house checking every nook and cranny to make sure everything is ready for the rainy season.
"Ahhh, Neko-ona," she says to her pet cat that she loves with her life, "it looks like everything is ready. I just need to call Mama in from the garden," It has been a month since the rainy season began and Kaminare-ona is looking for Neko-ona to play with, but she is nowhere to be found.
"Mama," she asks, "have you seen Neko-ona?"
"Ah, why no I have-" her comment is interrupted by a hoarse mewing coming......from outside in the fields.
"OH MY GOODNESS!!! NEKO-ONA!!!!" cries Kaminare-ona. she dashes towards the door.
"WAIT!!! SHE CAN TAKE CARE OF HER SELF!!!" but her mother's pleads are useless. She has already gone outside and shut the door. Her father stops her mother and gives her a stern look. Her mother then reluctantly sits back down in her seat never keeping her eyes off the window.
Kaminare-ona runs blindly into the storm to find her precious kitten. She suddenly spotted Neko-ona sitting in the middle of a baby field(a field which has not grown it's crop yet) drenched and shivering. She is relived that nothing else has happened. Unfortunately her gratitude is blown away by a sudden monstrous thunder. She knew what would come next.
Her mother also heard the thunder and instinctively jumped out of her chair and made a run for the door but was blocked away by the rest of the family.
Suddenly without any notice at all, Kaminare-ona jumps over her kitten and holds it tight. Then suddenly, without making a single noise, the lightning struck. Kaminare-ona's screams could be heard through the whole town.
"Kami!!!!" screamed her mother. Others around the town rushed to their windows, to hopefully see a young girl running back to her house. But, instead they saw a bolt of lightning continuing to strike the girl.
"What's going on?" she thought. "The lightning should've stopped by now. Instead, it feels like I'm soaking it in! I wonder......" Then suddenly the lightning shot straight up from Kami and hit the large storm cloud. This bolt caused the cloud to part and all that was left was light sun-shower, giving the fields one last soak before disappearing.
Afterwards all townspeople came outside to see what had happened. In the field was a shaken Kaminare-ona. Neko-ona was gratefully purring and rubbing against her friend. Kami couldn't stop looking up at the sky.
"KAMI!!!!!!" she heard her mother scream, "Are you alright? Are you hurt? How much did that lightning bolt effect you? Can you stand? Can you speak? Can you blink?" her mother continued to badger her with questions. Suddenly the town Wiseman came forth.
"I expected this," he said. Only then did Kami turn her head toward him.
"What do you mean?" she asked. He took her to a quiet spot in the temple.
"You pushed that lightning back up to the sky, did you not?"
"Yeah, I guess. Don't know how tough,"
"You felt the lightning surging through you before you pushed it up, and it didn't hurt, correct?"
"Yeah, but how do you know?" he smiled.
"They don't call me the village Wiseman for nothing. I will talk to you later as soon as I've sorted this out myself. Now go get some rest," Kami was grateful to be able to go to sleep so she left quickly, still clutching her kitten. As soon as she left a dark expression appeared on the wise mans face.
"Yes, there is no doubt," he said, "I'm sure. I must go see the other wise men immediately."
