At a very young age, Sanosuke was one of the members of the Sekihoutai, a group of fighters formed by the Ishinshishi. The Sekihoutai was lead by a great man named Soujo Sagara. Sanosuke looked to Soujo Sagara as his role model and took on his last name as a form of respect for his teacher. After the Bakumatsu no Douran war, the Ishinshishi turned against Sekihoutai, calling the group evil and saying that all the members must be destroyed. All Sekihoutai members were killed except Sanosuke and his young friend, Katsu. Because of this, Sanosuke hates all those who have anything to do with the new government. He wears a jacket with the kanji for "evil" emblazoned on the back as a form of mockery to the new government.

After many years, Sanosuke became the famous street fighter for hire named Zanza known all throughout Tokyo. He was hired by a man named Hiruma Gohei to kill Kenshin. After being defeated, he realized that Kenshin and his murdered teacher, Sagara, were the same in the way that they both had dreams of a new era of peace and equality for the people of Japan. Sanosuke and Kenshin, as well as the other members of the Kenshin-gumi, formed a tight friendship soon after. Sanosuke stands by to help and protect his friends whenever needed.

Kime: Yes yes! Sanosuke is my choice for Bishounen of the Month for January. What a great way to start off the new year. I love how Sano is so dedicated to his friends. He's really tough and cocky on the outside, but on the inside is a passion to keep his friends and the innocent people of Japan safe and happy. He seems to grow so much throughout the series. Near the end, even if he doesn't realize it himself, he has become so much like his friend, Kenshin, and his teacher/role model, Soujo Sagara. He helps fight, without thoughts of himself, for the Japan that both Kenshin and Sagara dreamed of. He is kind and helpful to the innocent citizens, yet brings swift justice to those who would seek to undo the peace that Japan and its people deserve. Cheers to you, Sano, who has been able to grow into such a good person through all that adversity.

Kime: *twitch* Can't hold back any longer . . . *glomp* Wai!! I love you so much Sano!!

Sano: Aww shucks. *blush* That's real nice of you. . .

Kime: I'm not the only one who loves you, either! I found lots of great pictures of you. Like this one!!

Sano: What the?!?! Where'd you get that?!?!

Kime: *rubs picture against her cheek* Not telling, but I'm definitely keeping it. Tee hee . . . look at you, so cute and relaxing in the hot bath. Maybe we can go to a hot spring together sometime, eh? *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

Sano: Wha? *confused*

Kime: Go ask Gyojo, he can explian it to you. *clears throat* Anywho, let's see what the other Femmes think of my dear Sano!

Ty-chou: Well, I'm not the biggest Kenshin fan, but it's pretty cool. Sanosuke is a likable character. But his mentor was totally hot! I'll take one of him. Also, I liked his hippie friend who made bombs. But it's probably a good think I'm not that big on Sanosuke. I don't want to fight Kim for him. ^.^

No-chan: Sano, Sano... What to say about Sanosuke?! He's pretty cool, I know that. Pretty stubborn, and kinda dumb sometimes, but still, pretty darn cool. I love that he has like.. NO fear when it comes to fighting, even when the person he is fighting against is MUCH stronger than him, which doesn't happen very often, but still! I love his giant butter knife, but I don't like that it was made to slice 'both horse and rider'.. o.O; Anyway, cool Rooster Head Sanosuke! Good choice, Kime. I was wondering when you'd pick him!

Nie-chan: Sanosuke . . . oh baby, oh baby!

Pan-Pan: Hm... what can i say about Sano? Well, he's the uber awesome bad boy for one. That makes him pretty darn likable... He's the big buff guy, without much of the brains, but we love him anyway. I'm surprised you were able to take all those pics Kime! Sano hates cameras! Woo! but i just love Sano! His cool sword, his Futae no Kiwami... just all around a great bishy! Yay Kime!
