Name: Yagami Light (Raito) |

| Occupation: Student, helps his father part-time with police cases. | |
| Manga: DeathNote | |

DeathNote is about Light, a super-genius high school student from Japan. After class one day, Light finds a book called the "DeathNote" with instructions inside on how to use it. If a name is written in the book, pretty much... that person dies, but you have to know their name and what they look like(this is important for later in the series...). After he figures out that the DeathNote actually works, Light is approached by a Shinigami (Angel of Death) Ryuuku, who tells Light more about the book. Light decides to use the DeathNote to rid the world of evil and crime and make it a better place to live by killing off all the criminals. It isn't long before authorities begin to have suspicions about all the sudden criminal deaths, but they can't figure out how the criminals keep dying or who is killing them... The mysterious murder is nicknamed "Kira" (it's Engrish ok?! - Kira = Killer, get it?) A sneaky detective named "L" (who is also a super-genius...) decides to track down this "Kira" and bring him to justice! Uh oh Light! Better watch out ^^; . DeathNote is awesome and definitely not your usual shounen series, (though
it is a Shonen Jump title!) and it actually deals with some pretty heavy
moral themes. I like it because it presents an interesting point of view,
seeing the story through the eyes of Light, who is really a villain, but
you're able to understand his reasoning and it almost makes you wonder
if you wouldn't do the same thing if you were given that power. o_o |

I also picked Light this month because... it's National
Novel Writing Month! And what better bishounen to help us celebrate
than the brainy, bookish, and beautiful Yagami Light! He shows us that
books can be fun and functional! ^^; I wish I had a DeathNote... well...
maybe not a DEATHnote... but maybe a Smack-you-upside-the-head-Note.
Whatever name I write in there gets mysteriously bopped on the head...
that would be awesome... |

<--- And here we have shirtless Light posing with "L" and Misa Misa. It boggles my mind all the fangirls that pair L and Light X_x You guys just keep thinking that. I'll be laughing my butt off when you get to chapter 58 ^^ bwa ha ha! But yeah, L and Misa are cool characters too. Can't have an awesome main character without a supporting cast, right? ^^ |

Another scary/cool thing about Light is how good of
an actor he is. He can be sneaky and evilly and cunning, but he can also
appear to be sweet, innocent, and naive(Seriously, that Light on the left,
HE could be Kira... but the one on the right? He's so cute! No way he
could be a serial killer!)

Kime: Oooh . . . Light (or Raito) is so hot and so freaky smart! I love it when the bishounen are smart. Beauty and brains . . . it can be a dangerous combination especially when it comes to Light. I *really* wouldn't want to get on his bad side. Although when I look at him . . . all his sides are pretty good looking! Yay for Light! Great pick Pan-Pan!!
Ty-chou: First of all, DeathNote is a REALLY cool manga. It messes with your head. At first, you want to cheer for Light because you think he's doing a good thing by killing off all the scum bags who prey on innocent people. But then, Light kind of starts letting it go to his head and L comes in and he points out that even though he's killing bad guys, he's still killing and that's wrong. So you're kind of torn. A very interesting and intelligent read, DeathNote is. Not for the stupid people (like the rabid yaoi fans who think Light and L totally want each other. What the hell??)
