Following the tragic death of his comrades (known as the
tribe of Kuruta) about five years ago, Kurapika embarks on a journey to
enter the Hunter Exam. Kurapika wants to become a Black List Hunter so
that he can hunt the Phantom Brigade(Genryoudan) who exterminated all
of his Clan because of the value of their eyes(Kurata clan members have
unique eyes that are usually blue or brown, but if they are angered, turn
a bright crimson. The eyes also retain the crimson color after death,
hence their high value.).

| Kurapika's Unbreakable Chains: Kurapika has 5 chains attached with rings on his right hand. Each has a different Nen(sort of like Chi) ability. | |||||
| Dowsing Chain - This can also be interpreted as "The Chain of the Ring Finger that Guides". This technique is designed to defend-- to smother, put out, or extinguish attacks in any kind or form (i.e. bullets, blades, punches, etc.). | |||||
| Chain Jail - Also known as "The Chain of the Middle Finger That Restrains", this technique forcefully steals the body's freedom. The state where aura would not release Zetsu(In other words, they can't use aura/chi/nen attacks). Therefore, one who gets captured by this chain must break free from this chain with only their body power. | |||||
| Holy Chain - This also means "The Chain of the Thumb that Heals". This is the strengthening of self-healing. For example, a bone crushed into pieces can be healed in just a second. | |||||
| Judgement Chain - "I have inserted the chain of admonition into your heart. If you break the rule I have chosen the chain will automatically operate and will crush your heart!" --Kurapika (Vol. 008). He couldn't have explained it better! Since it's called "judgment chain", this chain technique basically judges for itself by any given rule which is made by Kurapika. So if you don't play by the rule, then it's over for you. | |||||
| Emporer Time - Not too much known on this one... it has something that has to do with time (obviously). It can also be called "Absolute Time". | |||||
| Kurapika, being a Blacklist Hunter and all. . . is also a master of disguise! Check out his costumes! | |||||

Pan Pan: If anyone truly fits the definition for Bishounen, it's Kurapika. (literally bishounen is "beautiful boy" and refers to a specific Japanese aesthetic concept of the ideally beautiful young man. The prefix bi- specifically refers to feminine beauty. and the suffix "shounen" or boy.) I don't care what anyone else says, Kurapika is a babe and a great guy. Not only is he cute, but he is sweet, loyal, and the kind of guy you'd want to take home to mommy (probably don't want to mention any of that chain stuff to her though...). He has cool costumes that may look funny at times, but man, i bet they're really comfy. He digs the sound of the flute too... and guess who plays that! That's right! Pan Pan does! I suppose i like him best because he is all sweet and innocent most of the time, but also has his dark and exciting side. Whoo!
Nie-chan: Kurapika is awesome!! DUDE! He knows how to fight! I loved the part where he had to "sleep" with his chains, walk with his chains - he had to make the chains a part of himself... lol so cute! Let's count the ways that he's great: 1. He's sweet 2. He's smart 3. He can fight 4. He's a babe. Isn't that a great formula? I even amaze myself sometimes.
Kime: What a cutie!! I don't know a heck of a lot about Kurapika cause I haven't read Hunter x Hunter yet. When I first saw him I thought he was only 13 or so. Luckily he is older than that so I can drool and lust all I want without feeling like a pervert. I know Pan Pan was having the same problem when she first started the manga, but Misha was there to tell her that Kurapika was at least 18. Yay!! You're not a pedophile, Pan Pan!!! ;) Anyway, I think Kurapika is a great choice for BOM. He's sweet and cute and can kick some serious @$$!!!
Ty-chou: Pika, pika, pikaCHU! Wait, wrong pika...Well, I haven't read this manga so I can't tell you much about it. I know it's done by the person who did Yu Yu Hakusho. So if you like that (And I know many of you do) you might want to check this out. I'm sure Pan-Pan can tell you where you can get it. I, on the other hand think, that while Kurapika is definitely bishounen, he still looks TOO YOUNG!
No-chan: (2/12/04) Heh heh.. You may say that, Ty-chou, but he's also one of the only ones that can be actually and DEFINITELY termed "Bishounen" *giggle* ;D *runs and hides from everyone* Good pick, Panananon! He's really cute! I haven't read the manga, but have heard it's veryvery good from all the girls, and Misha..
