This month's pick by Ty-Chou:

Ah...so pretty...

Name: Griffith
Series: Berserk

There's not a whole lot of information I can really give about Griffith. Berserk, unfortunately, doesn't have as large a fan base as other series and finding information on him proved very difficult. The entire series of Berserk covers about four to five years. At the end of the show, I would guess Griffith is somewhere in his early to mid twenties.
Personality wise, Griffith is very goal oriented. When he has a certain objective, he goes after it with all the power in him and lets obsolutely nothing get in his way. So much so that one could almost say that what he strives for is what defines him for he usually reaches what he sets out to do. Griffith is also very closed in and secretive. He keeps his most personal goals to himself and is not the one to share with someone what he's thinking or feeling. Yet, despite this, he also radiates a feeling of confidence and charisma which causes masses of people to follow him where ever he goes to whatever ideals he has chosen for himself. Because he's just a girl who can't say 'no'.
Griffith in all his naked glory.
Griffith also likes to get naked--a lot. Which is only one of the many reasons why I love this show. This is such a totally guy show, yet there's so much fan service for us! Griffith also wears a very curious "good luck charm" that was given to him by an old woman as a child. He never parts with it and claims that it will someday lead him to great glory. It's actually quite hideous, but the second we saw it, we at Fem-Gri-La instantly dubbed it as his "cool thing" here at the right.

A little about Griffith: Griffith is the leader of a band of mercenaries called the Hawks. Despite the fact of being born into lower class peasantry, Griffith had plans for higher things. His band is also contrived of members of lesser status. Nevertheless, under Griffith's command, they soon grew to be the most feared army in the Midland Kingdoms and found favor with the king and members of his court. After years of fighting, the Hawk was even granted status in the kingdom and accepted as a part of the royal army. Griffith was dubbed a nobleman and still, he was not satisfied and soon set his sights even higher. But if I went even further than that, I'd be giving away the ending. ;) Why I watch Berserk
It would break Nie-Chan's heart if I didn't
use this picture. So here is Griffith's butt
for you all to enjoy.

So why Griffith?

Well, first of all, I absolutely loved Berserk from the first time I saw it to the end and would jump at any chance to promote it. So why not in the BOM? Especially since one of the reasons we made this section was to provide information to fans about lesser known animes. The thing with Berserk is this is NOT any type of girly show by far. In fact, Griffith is the closest thing to a bishounen in there. It is a dirty, bloody, dark series. No one is really pretty in it. And yet, Griffith steps forth and bravely marches into this world where no self respecting bishounen would ever tread. They might get dirt under their nails or something and heaven forbid! Making evil look so good.
Evil Griffith. Showing other bishounen
how it's done.

I find Griffith's character very interresting as he plays a roll in the story of Berserk that you don't often see anywhere. And this is not a spoiler. You are told in the very first episode quite clearly that Griffith is NOT the star of the show and he is NOT the hero. A stoic, muscle bound wanderer named Guts is. And yet, the second Griffith comes into the story, he outshines Guts and everyone else he comes in contact with. Guts, who is supposed to be the star, is a simple person with no real goals. Griffith is the one who grabs the plot and makes the story move. Everyone else is just there for the ride.
Griffith's role in Berserk is something truely unique. You get tons and tons of foreshadowing-- subtle reminders that sooner or later, everything is going to hit the fan, but you can't stop yourself. You know you shouldn't be on Griffith's side, but you can't help but cheer him on and hope nothing happens to him as he climbs to the top. Though you know the further he climbs, the further he will fall and EVERYONE will catch hell for it when it happens. But just like in Romeo and Juliet, you are told at the beginning they're going to die, but you still can't help hoping that somehow this time they will get to stay together. It is the same with Berserk. I know I will watch it again and, even though I'm told the end in the beginning, I will keep hoping that this time, he will make it. I cheered for you, Griffith! I cheered for you!

Kime: Okay, now I haven't seen much of Berserk, the episodes I end up seeing are always the same one. Naked Griffith. Yup. He's standing by the well all naked in the sunshine, of course with the strategic shadow. Then he gets into a water fight with Guts! He's naked! Not Guts, only Griffith. Maybe it's some sort of male bonding thing. But, all in all, I think Griffith rocks. First of all, he is definitely bishounen. Second of all he is so freaking confident! No wonder he leads the best group of mercenaries around! Last, but definitely not least, he gives the girls some fan service! Oh yeah! What more could you ask for? Griffith definitely delivers!! ^.^

Nie-chan: I think this is my color! Hey! no one better complain about Griffith's butt picture...wait, yes complain! Because that is what makes it fun and funny! lol Ok onto the topic. Griffith. I've liked what I've seen so far. I'm waiting for No-chan to finish the 5th DVD, so I can see more. My thoughts on Griffith.... Confidence just leaks from him, you can smell it a mile away! (so THAT has been the stench. go-figure) As Tychou mentioned, in the very beginning you know how this turns out. But I'm in the same boat as Tychou, I don't want it to happen that way. I'm also cheering loudly and off-key for Griffith. The louder it is the more you are loved. ^_^ He is willing to do things, well anything to see his goal through. Very devoted. Hee-hee and the Berserk outtakes are the best...so I'm going to end this with "Ah'm~ just a girl who~ can't say no..." yeah if you've seen the outtakes you know what I'm talking about. lol

No-chan: MMmmm.. Griffith... Yeah. He's definitely purdy. And DEFINITELY likes being nekkid. *L* Least he looks good that way. Nice butt-shot, Nie-chan ;) and I finished the 5th disc already! Anyway.. Up until *ahem* recently, Griffith has been extremely awesome. Plugging along at his dream, trying to make it.. he was SO proud of himself and his Hawks when things finally started going well for them, and he had every right to be. I'm excited to finish off this show, but at the same time, extremely nervous to see how things will turn out. *L* The outtakes SO rule, and ya gotta love the fanservice for females in this show.. It causes me to yell.. "YAY! NakED!" a lot.. hee hee. Plus, the plot is really cool.. EH! At any rate.. Great choice, Ty-chou! We love you Griffith! ;D

Pan Pan: ah man, dead last giving comments... bad Pannon, bad! Anyway, yay for Griffith! I love-ded you! I Love-ded yooohooohooooo! Griffith is just really cool. When he hangs out with Guts he is so freakin' cute! Guts and Caska are like the only ones he'll give a real smile to. Griffith is cool because dang, that boy's got some determination. With him, the ends Always justify the means. He'll do whatever it takes to achieve his dreams. (and i do mean whatever it takes! o.o) He is the only guy even close to bishounen-hood in Berserk. I mean Ricket is cute, but he's like... 12. *ahem* Griffith is also a freakin' tactical genius when it comes to the art of war. He kicks everyone's butt, not just because his men fight well, but also because he knows how to play the game ^-^ When it comes to fighting he can be cold and heartless, but when it's about his friends, he can be very sweet. Go Hawks!! They can take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR GRIFFITH-SU!!!!
