(He's also referred to as Shouryuu but I'm not too sure why... maybe I missed something... I think it may be his "king" name.)

Likes: um... I think he likes teahouses, you know the kind he can get tea and some "tea" if you know what I'm saying... at least that's the impression I got when I first saw him.
Shoku = A phenomenon similiar to a storm.
Ranka = The enchanted fruit that all life is born from. Ranka grow on special trees. Trees bearing human and Kirin fruit are called Riboku.
Are you still with me? Good, cause he's hot so let's continue. When he's in town he goes by Mr. Fuukan because he can't call himself King down there. He's been ruling En for 500 years. His body doesn't grow old like normal people so he has to change the places he hangs out at every 30 years or so because people will start to get suspicious.
He has eternal life but he'll still die if he gets beheaded or if his body is cut in half.
To explain his past I do need to go a bit into Enki's past and explain about the Kirin.
Kirin's are holy creatures that find the new ruler of the kingdoms. The kirin will know who the ruler is when he or she meets the new ruler. The kirin learn all of this when they are growing up.
But Enki, the kirin who found the King of En, grew up in Japan during chaos - so many wars. He was rescued just before he died and brought back to his home where he learned what he was and what he had to do. Enki didn't want to choose a king because he believed kings caused wars.During the time to find the king Enki threw a bit of a temper tantrum and caused a shoku. That shoku blew him back to Japan.In that other world he wandered around aimlessly for three years. He got sick and was found by the leader of the Komatsu clan, Naotaka Saburou Komatsu. Enki knew right away after meeting Naotaka, he was destined to be the new king of En.
Here's what you were waiting for!
Naotaka became the leader of the Komatsu clan when his father was killed in battle. He was loved by the clan and tried to find peace with the Murakami clan so there would be no unnecessary battles. But the messenger came back dead, and he knew that the Murakami clan wanted to kill them all. He was going to sacrifice himself for the safety of his clan. He planned on leading a small army to act as a decoy as the rest of his people escaped. The people didn't want him to sacrifice himself and urged him to escape, but he declared that he wouldn't abandon his people. It was his job to protect the people as their leader. And he argued that there is no point for a king without a king's people. What was he supposed to do, sit in a castle all by himself? He didn't like that idea. Enki was spying and heard everything he said. The next day their small army acted as decoy as the clan fled, but they were defeated. Naotaka was the last one standing, right before he was killed all his people came back to help him. He yelled at them to flee but they would not abandon the leader they loved so much and they were all slaughtered.
Enki was able to save Naotaka and saw how he mourned the loss of his people and how he couldn't forgive himself for not being able to save them.Enki then asks him, "Do you want a kingdom?" Naotaka accepts Enki's condition of never returning to that world and accepts the kingdom of En. He promises Enki that he will not fail.
Under his rule En has prospered greatly. His kingdom allows hanjyuu and kaikyaku to live without discrimination. Many refugees from Kei have ended up in En. He helps Youko save Keiki and take her rightful place as the Queen of Kei.
Kaikyaku = The people who have been caught in a Shoku and blown to the world of the Twelve Kingdoms.
Hanjyuu = people/animals. They walk around like large animals, but they can change into human form, but I believe it's more comfortable for them to walk around in their animal form
Nie-chan: I like it when he teases Rakushun! Rakushun doesn't wear clothes when he's in his animal form but since the king "has no manners" he insists that people that stay at the palace should look like they belong there, so Rakushun is in his human form. He then tells him, "Rakushun you can take your clothes off if you want." Embarrasses the poor hanjyuu.
I think the relationship between him and Enki is funny! They don't seem very respectful of each other... I get the feeling that it's more like an older brother and a younger brother relationship. They do respect each other but it's just not an "oh your highness blah blah blah" type of feel. And he's so hot! Even if he does like going to "teahouses"
No-chan: I am totally into this show right now.. only about 20 episodes in, but I absolutely love King En, and his kirin, Enki! King En is really awesome!! 'Course, His Majesty can be a complete jerk when he wants to be, too, but I love that he and his kirin have such a good relationship, that Enki can tell him off if he wants to. Yeah, it seems kind of confusing for those of you who haven't seen the show, but never fear.. it's totally worth it! Lots of pretty men, kirin, strong characters.. strong plot.. it is highly recommended. Nice pick, Nie-chan!
Pan-Pan: Wooooo! He's a pretty one! I haven't seen a whole lot of 12 Kingdoms, but I'm loving what I have seen. Such a cool series! I've only seen a little bit of King En, but he was pretty hot... he was hangin' out in one of those "teahouses" and giving everyone these gorgeous "come hither" looks... King Eeeeeeeen! Can I come serve you some "tea" too? hee hee...
Kime: Oooooh!! King En is REALLY hot. He's also REALLY nice and funny. The majority of the other kings in Twelve Kingdoms are OLD. So far it seems King En and King Tai are the only hot male rulers in that world. The others are either old or female . . . or both. But King En . . . *sigh* yummy yum yum. Come and give me some of that sweet sweet rulin' baby!!
Tychou: I love this show. With all that's in me. Fushigi Yuugi wishes it could be this cool. It's on of the best fantasy animes I've ever seen. I really, REALLY wish some company would translate the novels. That would rock. Anyway, about the King of En. I love his attitude about being a king and everything else. He totaly makes Enki regret choosing him as king just about every other day. But don't let his attitude fool you. The King of En is no idiot. He is a very good king and he really knows what he's doing even if he doesn't act like it.
